To contribute to a circular society and to guarantee the sustainability of our backpack, The Original Gabbag has a lining made from recycled PET-bottles. The Original Gabbag has an outer layer of high-quality tarpaulin. This strong material can take a beating and has water resistant properties, as a result of which your personal items stay dry even during rain fall. Strong and water resistant are the ideal properties for a sustainable backpack!
The lining of The Original Gabbag
The lining of The Original Gabbag, made from recycled PET bottles, has an excellent quality. PET bottles are the plastic bottles commonly used for water or soft drinks. This material, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), can be easily recycled and used for other purposes.
Recycling is always better
Recycling is always better than recovering raw materials, there is no doubt about that.
Plastic waste and the plastic soup is a major environmental problem that we all need to pay attention to. Recycling is always better than recovering raw materials, there is no doubt about that. Recycling PET reduces the production of virgin plastic, which also helps to reduce the amount of waste in circulation. This sustainable material is therefore used for The Original Gabbag to make textiles from the recycled PET bottles for the lining of our backpack. The PET is first crushed into small pieces, after which it is heated and spun into yarn. Polyester fabric is then woven from this yarn. This fabric is subsequently used to make the sustainable lining of our The Original Gabbag. Recycling this plastic requires 59% less energy than virgin plastic. This can also reduce CO2 emissions by up to 32%. This makes the use of recycled PET bottles in our backpacks extra sustainable.
